Something truly incredible is coming this way…

Meow Wolf, the iconic immersive exhibit that started in Santa Fe and has taken over Las Vegas, Denver, Dallas and Houston, is coming to New York City with a permanent spot at Pier 17 in The Seaport, which will be the exhibition’s first East Coast location.

While there’s currently no set opening date (we asked), we’re hyped to see the incredible show, far from your average immersive experience, landing here. According to an official press release announcing the opening, show is a “maximalist mix of art, storytelling and interactivity.”

“Meow Wolf exhibitions don’t fit into neat categories. They’re not escape rooms, selfie museums or traditional immersive experiences,” reads the release. “They are interactive universes filled with layers of narrative, where every visitor becomes part of the story. Meow Wolf New York will push these boundaries even further, connecting to Meow Wolf’s larger cosmic universe while crafting something distinctly New York.”

If you’ve ever been to Meow Wolf out west, you know exactly what that description is all about. Collectively, Meow Wolf locations have earned the top spot in Time Out’s list of the country’s best immersive experiences, making you feel like you’ve left planet earth for the day. Best of all, Meow Wolf works with local artists so that each of its exhibitions “reflects the heart of its host city.”

“Meow Wolf New York will be a love letter to the stories, people and artistic spirit that make the city an unmatched cultural powerhouse,” its creators say.

“New York has always been a city that thrives on reinvention, making it the perfect place for Meow Wolf’s next evolution,” said Vince Kadlubek, Meow Wolf founder and chief vision officer, in an official statement. “I’ve been closely involved in bringing this to life, and I couldn’t be more excited. We’re creating something with a level of creative ambition and next-generation storytelling that pushes beyond anything we’ve done before—an experience that truly belongs in this city.”

If that’s not something to be excited about, we don’t know what is.

While the theme is still to come, we know Meow Wolf will aim to transport visitors into “mind-expanding, interactive realms” at Pier 17. Meow Wolf says the Seaport destination is the perfect space for its NYC exhibition because of its waterfront energy, cobblestone streets and eclectic mix of culture that brings the past and the future together.

According to a representative for Meow Wolf, the opening date will be in late 2027 or early 2028.

If you’re as pumped as we are, sign up for updates on the exhibit's website right here and follow the official Instagram account.
