A mixed drink under $15 feels like a super rare find in New York City these days (looking at you, $1 off "happy hour" specials), but a Brooklyn celebration is bringing it back to 2008, bar pricing included.
The Richardson, a Greenpoint spot for creative craft cocktails, is celebrating its 15th anniversary. A party on Tuesday, August 15, will throwback to the bar’s first year, also remembered as the year of a major recession, the era of Britney Spears’ new track “Womanizer” playing at every bar, and, of course, Obama winning the Presidential election. Cocktails were cheaper then, Instagram didn’t exist, and things were fun.
To throwback, the party kicking off at 7pm will offer $9 pricing on classic cocktails including the Old Fashioned, Manhattan, Negroni, and French 75. ($9 wasn’t even considered cheap in 2008, so enjoy the discount while it feels good.) The special will last until midnight.
For entertainment, local band Luca & the Leftovers will perform from 8pm to 11 pm. If you’re eager to shoot some pool, join the Billiards Tournament, which will be hosted during the event.
The Richardson's selection of rare whiskies, natural wines, craft beer, and single-batch mezcals, will also be available for purchase, plus regular menu items including the Tumeric Collins (turmeric, ginger, green cardamom, pink and black peppercorn, sparkling water, London dry gin), Mrs. Jones (kumquat, hibiscus, curaçao, orange bitters, american corn vodka), Rigor Mortis (agave syrup, orange bitters, grapefruit oil, lowland tequila reposado, mezcal espadin), and a rotating frozen specialty. To eat, a chef-led menu with handhelds such as savory hand pies (garam masala turkey with oaxaca cheese), conservas, plus hot and cold bar bites including white bean hummus, kale and artichoke dip, pigs in a blanket and more.
Everyone’s invited to a party, whether you’ve been on a failed (or successful) Tinder date at the bar, safely socially distanced while watching the 2021 Inauguration on the big screen, dropped by after work, or just have never been to The Richardson and want to check out a beloved local establishment on the cheap.
