When the popular suburbian grocery store chain Wegmans opened its very first Manhattan location on Astor Place back in 2023, where K-Mart used to be, New Yorkers rejoiced: here was a massive new destination filled with good quality foods of all sorts to bring home alongside deli-like offerings to satisfy lunchtime cravings.

Given the success of the grocery store, it is no surprise that news regarding the debut of Next Door at Astor Place, the destination's Japanese restaurant, was met with equal excitement... especially now that the new company has indirectly announced an opening date: early 2025. That is, basically, right now.

According to its careers website, the company is currently looking for a restaurant manager.

"Next Door at Astor Place opens in early 2025!," reads the listing. "Next Door at Astor Place is a true culinary adventure located at the Wegmans store in the East Village. Led by chef Oliver Lange and our exceptional team, you will help deliver delicious contemporary Japanese cuisine which draws inspiration from around the world."

In addition to listing the future employee's responsibilities, the writeup shares some details about the eatery as a whole.

"The art deco inspired space, in a nod to the historic origin of the building, will be both welcoming and comfortable," reads the post. "Guests will enjoy a wonderfully immersive and entertaining experience from any seat in the house and personalized, next-level hospitality."

It all sounds very Wegmans-y—and we're here for it!

As reported by Eater, you'll find the new restaurant "to the left of the main entrance" on Astor Place. See you there for lunch?
