It's getting warm outside, which means it sure would be nice to have a four-legged creature to spin the block with.
If you've been thinking about getting a pet, now's your chance: Best Friends Animal Society is partnering up with Animal Care Centers of NYC (NYCACC) for a pop-up adoption event in Bushwick this weekend.
RECOMMENDED: Bushwick’s Boyfriend is the new day-to-night queer space we desperately needed
The pop-up is happening at The Spot at 232 Varet Street, just a couple of blocks from the Morgan L train. Head over there on Saturday, March 15, from 11am until 5pm or Sunday, March 16, from 11am until 4pm.
All adoption fees will be completely waived for big dogs and adult cats, and there will be a $25 adoption fee for kittens. Usually, adoption fees for dogs and kittens are $100, which means you'll be getting a pretty solid deal. The last time Best Friends Adoption did a pop-up event last November, sixty-one pets were adopted throughout the course of two days.
The event is sponsored by Best Friends Animal Society and the dogs and cats will come from NYCACC's shelters. If you visit their website, you'll be able to see their pets currently up for adoption. They include a smiley dog called Pearl; a fabulous black cat named The General; and a puppy named Chicken Little.
"Partnering with Best Friends Animal Society for offsite adoption events at great locations like The Spot in Brooklyn is a game-changer for our animals," said Jessica Vaccaro, Director of Placement at Animal Care Centers of NYC. "Bringing adoptable pets into the community helps them find loving homes faster while freeing up space in our shelters for more animals in need."
Looks like it's time to order that cat tree and those dog toys before the weekend rolls around.
