Although they sounds a bit odd, we honestly can't wait to try the new spicy cupcakes soon-to-be-released by New York favorite Baked by Melissa and legendary hot sauce brand Tabasco.

The collaboration—the first between the two entities—involves a spicy and sweet cupcake assortment that features two distinct flavors: a red velvet cake infused with Tabasco sauce, topped with cream cheese and spicy icing and a triple chocolate fudge cupcake made with chocolate cake stuffed with Hershey's fudge and topped with chocolate icing and mini chocolate chips. An exciting gastronomic marriage, if you ask us.

“Our bite-size cupcakes are the perfect treat to celebrate all of life’s moments. We wanted to spice things up for Valentine’s Day, so we developed new flavors that nod to how opposites attract,” said Melissa Ben-Ishay, co-founder and chief executive officer of Baked by Melissa, in a statement. “Together with the most legendary hot sauce brand, we created a cupcake assortment perfect for gifting to anyone in your life who balances you—the spice to your sweet.”

The 25-pack combo costs $37 and is available at all Baked by Melissa locations for pickup and delivery and online for nationwide shipping. A smaller, six-pack version of the treat is also being sold for $10.25, this one only offered in store.

If spicy desserts just ain't your thing, opt for Baked by Melissa's new Valentine's Day collection instead, which just dropped. Inspired by a box of chocolate, the new boxes feature six limited-edition flavors like strawbbery, dulce de leche, marshmallow and dark chocolate.

Needless to say, the Baked by Melissa brand knows what it's doing. Founded by Ben-Ishay back in 2008 when she lost her job in advertising, the company initially sold its bite-sized cupcakes through catering companies only. The first physical location of the business—pop-up window at Cafe Bari in SoHo back in 2009—proved that New Yorkers could make room in their bellies for a unique take on the classic treat. That has clearly not changed since then: Baked by Melissa now operates 14 brick-and-mortar shops in New York City and the Boston area.
