Did you know that the building that currently houses Tavern on the Green, the legendary restaurant in Central Park, used to be a sheep meadow? Built in 1870, it originally housed the flock that grazed nearby Sheep Meadow, along with their shepherd.

This Easter, the restaurant is tipping its hat to that pastoral past in the most charming way: by inviting a real-life sheep to brunch. That’s right—during Easter brunch, a woolly guest of honor will be mingling with diners, bringing the building's quirky, bucolic history full circle.

Speaking of the food: the restaurant is offering two special four-course prix-fixe menus on Sunday, April 20, one for brunch and the other for dinner.

During the day, the $145 adult price tag will grant you a homemade pastry basket, a choice of appetizer (options include Greek yogurt, a spring salad, a smoked salmon dish and a sweet pea soup, among others), an entrée (Maine lobster eggs Benedict, braised spring lamb, Tavern French Toast) and a dessert (coconut crème brûlée, bittersweet chocolate torte, lemon olive oil cake). Kids 12 and under can indulge in the hearty menu for $75.

Prices for dinner are the same, but the menu looks slightly different.

The nighttime holiday meal will kick off with with a delicious-sounding baked fig and goat cheese crostini, followed by similar options for appetizers, entrées and dessert. Keep in mind that the price tags do not include beverages and tax.

To be honest, no matter what you order, you'll probably be distracted by the sheep roaming around the restaurant.
