Fireworks are out (RIP to Central Park’s New Year’s spectacular), and drones are in.

Coca-Cola is putting on a massive light show with about 1,200 drones that will display images of Santa, its Coca-Cola Caravan and other holiday images tonight—on Friday, December 6.

The drones will light up the sky right above the Intrepid Museum and Pier 86 at Hudson River Park between 6 and 9pm.

If you don’t know, the Coca‑Cola Caravan is a nationwide pop-up series that brings Santa, Coke to enjoy and the chance to make your own personalized Coca‑Cola Zero Sugar can to cities across the U.S.

Drone shows are definitely becoming a more popular way for brands to make a scene—General Election launched one back in April to celebrate its “transformation into three independent public companies.” Before then in September 2023, Global collective Projecting Change put on a light show above the East River with 1,000 drones to kick off Climate Week

Regardless of how you feel about these drone shows, they cut down on the risk of fire, especially when we’re in this dangerous drought era, without losing that sense of awe that we like to pair with celebrations.
