It may be spring in NYC, but Game of Thrones fans have winter and (spoiler) ice dragons on their minds! In honor of the final season of the popular HBO TV series—which premieres on Sunday, April 14—there have been an influx of GoT-themed events and Iron Throne sightings in NYC.
If you can't wait for all the madness and murder to begin, brace yourselves by checking out these events and specials this weekend.
Experience a Game of Thrones tour at The Rubin Museum
Discover how HBO's breakout hit series resembles actual life in this tour of the Rubin's new exhibit, Faith and Empire: Art and Politics in Tibetan Buddhism. The tour is free with admission to the museum and examines politics, religion and art—but, sadly, not dragons.
Bust a move at Rave of Thrones
Hodor's a DJ? Turns out actor Kristian Nairn has been serving up big room house bangers to enthusiastic dance floors for over 20 years. If you're a rabid GoT fan with a high tolerance for finger hearts, his gig on Saturday 13 at Schimanski for you.
Play some Game of Thrones (TV) Trivia
Contrary to Cersei Lannister’s opinion, knowledge is power, especially when it comes to trivia about HBO’s addictive series. The obsessive folks from Trivia AD are throwing down the gauntlet with five brutal rounds of Westerosi trivia on Monday 15, so ready a team of up to four fans, and make sure you’ve read up on dragon etymology, Valyrian steel swords and Wildling tribes if you want to walk out with your dignity (and all of your limbs). Strategize like a Lannister, but try not to drink like one.
Watch the premiere at a Game of Thrones Watch Party
Take in Sunday's big show with a rowdy crowd, finger-licking food from Fletcher's BBQ and some tasty, creative cocktails from the new speakeasy Understudy. Westeros-inspired specials will include the "Red Wedding" (champagne, strawberries and citrus rum) and the "Dragon Fire" (spiced rum, coconut cream, pineapple and hibiscus tea).
Nosh on Glaze of Thrones Doughnuts
When you play the game of thrones, you live or you fry. The latter is especially true for Sugar & Water NYC's doughnuts that now come in special-edition, Game of Thrones flavors like Fire & Ice, Dragon Scale, Blood Shed and The Red Witch starting today. Mmm, tastes like sweet revenge.
Spend a night in Lannister's Lair
Diehard fans can watch the final season Lannister-style at the Refinery Hotel's over-the-top GoT suite. The room is lavished with faux-fur throws, goblets of wine, GoT-themed room service, "dragon egg" candles and, of course, access to HBO and HBO GO so you can watch the latest episodes from the comfort of a king size bed. The suite starts at a steep $569 for the night, so you'll really have to tap into the Lannister fortune to make your medieval dreams come true.
Treat yo'self to GoT spa treatments
Haven Spa is offering special services in honor of the final season of Game of Thrones for a limited time. We recommend the Dragon Glass gel manicure ($60) that will make your nails look just like dragonglass using a special chrome polish. If you want to blow your tax return, go all in on the Game of Thrones spa Package ($300), which includes the mani as well as a White Walker Scrub, a Fire & Ice Facial and a Mother of Dragons Pedicure.
