You Are Here (Trouble Maze) Festival

Local saxophonist Sam Hillmer's You Are Here festival, coconceived with Hillmer’s wife, sculptor Laura Paris, is an honest-to-God, human-scale string labyrinth. The project casts a variety of cutting-edge musicians in a Willy Wonka–esque happening, which has previously featured hidden potions, custom video games housed in treasure chests and interactive sound installations. The live music is no afterthought: Depending on when you go, you can hear afro-futurist visionaries like Abdu Ali (Thu 30), cyber-soundscapist beats from Noah B (July 3), or one of Hillmer’s own challenging projects like Zs (July 1).
