Formerly known as Kyuss Lives!, Vista Chino features vocalist John Garcia and drummer Brant Bjork, former members of ’90s stoner-metal faves Kyuss who—unlike their brilliant ex-bandmate Josh Homme, now of Queens of the Stone Age—didn't graduate to rock-star status. Having a trademark-infringement suit brought against them by Homme last year might be the best thing that ever happened to Garcia and Bjork; instead of coasting on as a retro act, the pair has regrouped under a new name and delivered Peace, a surprisingly solid album of fresh originals. Anyone who got off on Kyuss's fuzz-caked desert boogie will find much to love here.
