The Jazz Crusaders

Originally a Houston hardbop combo known as the Jazz Crusaders, keyboardist Joe Sample, trombonist Wayne Henderson and saxophonist Wilton Felder shortened their name and made their fortunes as a soulful, hit-making fusion act. But they never dropped the jazz from their sound altogether—and now it's back on the marquee as well.
