The Impressions + Binky Griptite and the Dee-Kays

There are many terms to describe the Impressions: living legends, members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a launchpad for the immortal Curtis Mayfield, the quintessential soul group… We could argue over semantics, but there's no doubt that tonight's shindig, which also features backup prowess from members of mighty local funksters the Dap-Kings (including guitarist Binky Griptite, who spent the last few weeks holed up in his house learning how to play in Curtis Mayfield's tuning) and the DJ skills of the auteurs of the Dig Deeper soirees, is gonna be totally groovy.
