Keyboardist George Colligan, saxist Rudresh Mahanthappa and bassist Jerome Harris—heard together in a killer Jack DeJohnette–led band that played Birdland in early 2010—reassemble in the service of another fiery virtuoso, with Donald Edwards taking over the drum chair. Guitarcentric Hendrix tributes are a dime a dozen, so we're almost relieved not to see a six-string on the bandstand here.
