There's nothing quite like a Flaming Lips concert, which functions as both a homemade circus (with the nation's foremost carnival barker, Wayne Coyne) and celebration of idiosyncratic experimental indie-rock. The Lips' album from last year, Embryonic, is savage and strange. SummerStage has been around for a quarter century now, but this will likely be its first concert to feature a singer trapped inside a large bubble. Opening is the long-running New York band Oneida, which displays a restless creativity that recalls the headliner.
