Connie Crothers studied with Lennie Tristano in the ’60s and ’70s, and has collaborated with giants such as Max Roach and Warne Marsh. The veteran pianist is adept in both bop-fueled outings and exploratory free contexts, and she's never more compelling than when she's performing with her tight-knit working quartet, including saxist Richard Tabnik, bassist Ken Filiano and drummer Roger Mancuso. Here, the band celebrates a new CD, Deep Friendship.
