Before the White Stripes famously emerged in black, red and white, the Chrome Cranks emitted three albums of savage punk-blues garbed in garish black, pink and yellow. The band, formed in the late ’80s in Cincinnati by frontman Peter Aaron and lead guitarist William Weber, represents an unsurpassed articulation of its chosen style, bluesy garage rock. The band—prepping a forthcoming reunion album—will share a bill with Electroputas, a group that offers jammy, hypnotic psych-punk, and K Holes, a band that features members of the Black Lips.
