A singer of renown, Svetlana Spajic is a master of Serbian and Balkan songs, and tonight she brings an a cappella quartet to Drom. Yes, it's traditional music, but it's powerful, stirring stuff, not a million miles away from the defiant sounds of Zola Jesus; no surprise then that Spajic worked with artist Marina Abramovic for her Balkan Erotic Epic. The singer notes: "I was never given a comment by my teachers like ‘You sing nicely.’ Such thing doesn’t exist in the ancient epic world. Either you testify the truth or not."
