Sumeida's Song

Scott Dunn leads the Mimesis Orchestra and a quartet of soloists in the timely concert premiere of Mohammed Fairouz's first opera. Based on Tawfiq El Hakim's tragic Egyptian play Song of Death, the opera traces young idealist Alwan's attempts to modernize his home village and break a never-ending cycle of violence.
