Buzzy British band Spector makes sincere, synth-filled rock, like the Killers covering the Walkmen. Here the crew plays with local trio Slothrust, which makes furiously danceable tracks that evoke both Sonic Youth and death metal—though the main attraction is frontwoman Leah Wellbaum’s androgynously droll Nico-esque deadpan.
