The 15 members of the SLM Ensemble—including vocalist Jen Shyu, flutist Robert Dick, saxophonist Oliver Lake and drummer Gerry Hemingway, not to mention a koto and an oud—may be better known on the jazz scene but under the baton of Sarah Weaver, they play pure contemporary composition. This performance's works are by Weaver and Mark Dresser, who will play upright bass.
