Sonic Youth + Wild Flag

Sonic Youth, lords of downtown avant-rock, seem to play a big outdoor show every summer—this year, the Williamsburg Waterfront gets honored with the band's feedback. Opening is fellow indie stalwart Wild Flag, which features Janet Weiss and Carrie Brownstein—a moonlighting sketch comic and general jack-of-all-trades—playing behind a hotly anticipated self-titled album (due September 13). It may not smell like teen spirit, exactly, but we're pretty sure this bill will get you hot 'n' sweaty.
