Jamaican dancehall star Sean Paul may only have one trick up his sleeve—crooning cheesy come-ons in a heavily accented, weirdly robotic voice—but the technique has yielded a string of highly infectious singles ("Gimme the Light," "Get Busy," "Temperature"). Sean Paul's smashes have been sparser over the past few years, so his new album, Tomahawk Technique, seems to us like a make-or-break effort. Also on the bill is 77-year-old calypso veteran the Mighty Sparrow, the genre's first international star.
