Not content to be merely a folk scion, singer-songwriter and Judy Garland interpreter, Rufus Wainwright increasingly turns to the unlikely musical passion of his youth: opera. His original opera, Prima Donna, will be performed in its entirety in the spring of 2012 by the New York City Opera; tonight, with pianist Kevin Murphy, the company and Wainwright offer excerpts alongside the genre-bender's favorite arias.
