Giants in Japan, cartoon stars in the U.S.; Puffy AmiYumi's bouncy crunch pop might be easy to dismiss, but it's hard to deny the duo's staying power (ten years together) or its ability to throw a few curveballs (latest album Bring It! has tracks written by Avril Lavigne and Butch Walker). They appear this weekend as part of Fetes, an offshoot of the New York Anime Festival (celebrating Japanese pop culture), appearing at the fest and at Comic Con. Kitschy fun is guaranteed.
