These dramatic Detroit postpunks turn an unflinching eye toward mortality, isolation and other bleak topics on their sensuous yet icy (not to mention, brilliant) 2015 album, The Agent Intellect. Fortunately, things haven't changed in the past few years—the band's 2017, Relatives in Descent, maintains the frigid, stark atmosphere. As for the live show, we never get tired of the simmering cool of frontman Joe Casey's stage presence, sunglasses clad and beer in hand. For this Northside Festival showcase, the band pairs with the world’s premier art-pop band, Deerhoof.
