Thrash-funk stalwarts Primus kept unusually quiet for most of the aughts, but came roaring back last year, when bassist-bandleader Les Claypool and guitarist Larry LaLonde teamed up with original drummer Jay Lane for Green Naugahyde, a near-relentless slugfest awash in turgid funk, creepy psych-boogie and Claypool’s Zappa-style wordplay. Proceeds from the Gramercy Theatre show benefit Claypool's infant nephew Matthew, who suffers from leukemia.
