Fans of the great English band Portishead are accustomed to exercising patience. In 2008 the group ended a decade-long wait between studio albums with Third, a powerful, haunting effort that reflected Portishead’s transformation from a lush trip-hop outfit into a stark electro-blues act; three years later, the band is finally launching an accompanying North American tour, its first since 1998. History portends a memorable evening: Roseland NYC Live, recorded in 1997 with members of the New York Philharmonic, is the rare concert disc worth revisiting.
