On its latest record, Everything in Between, No Age has slightly scaled back the Lightning Bolt–influenced frenzy that reigned on previous discs Weirdo Rippers and Nouns, infusing sequencers and samplers more heavily into its assaultive, catchy sound in songs like “Life Prowler” and “Glitter.” But punk purists needn’t worry; the new album is still stocked with ragers, including the roaring “Shred and Transcend.” Electropop outfit Small Black has come a long way since the release of last year's self-titled EP; adding bassist Juan Pieczanski and drummer Jeff Curtin has made the former two-man bedroom project into a deeper, spacier experience.
