Marc Ribot Trio + Billy Martin & Marc Ribot Duo

Guitarist Marc Ribot, a rootsy maverick with about as broad a stylistic range as you'll find in modern improv, reconvenes his outstanding trio with veteran bassist Henry Grimes and versatile drummer Chad Taylor for this New Year's Eve party. The band draws inspiration from Albert Ayler and late-period Coltrane, and while it excels at ecstatic free jazz, it can also stomp the blues and break your heart with a ballad. In the opening slot, Ribot pairs with drummer Billy Martin for a new duo dubbed Veve Mechanique.
