Quirky local folkie Laura Stevenson reminds us of how Joanna Newsom sounded before she went utterly baroque, though with a healthy heaping of antipathy and dour mood. Nonetheless, her tuneful songcraft somehow makes the brooding disaffection sound utterly exuberant. In the opening set, warbly, revelatory indie singer-songsmith Steph Knipe explores the precariousness of young adulthood as Adult Mom—fans of Waxahatchee and Hop Along should tune in.
