Lana Del Rey attained instant Web stardom a few months back when her "Video Games" clip went viral. We might be skeptical of all the hoopla over one song—her live shows having been selling out in minutes—but the video boasts some serious seductive power. Del Rey (real name: Lizzy Grant) seems at once depressed by and infatuated with the myth of ’50s-era feminity, and this conflicted stance gives her material a weirdly sumptuous sadness. Whether she'll be able to hold down a headline slot at the Bowery is, of course, another matter entirely.
