The sole surviving member of the starry Miles Davis group that waxed the indelible 1959 LP Kind of Blue, drummer Jimmy Cobb spends his time nowadays schooling the younger generations in his trademark brand of imperturbable swing. Here, he plays two nights' worth of CD-release gigs—for the new Smoke Sessions disc The Original Mob—as part of a Davis birthday celebration.
