Drummer Jimmy Cobb earned a place in jazz history solely for the imperturbable swing he brought to Miles Davis's epochal Kind of Blue, but 50-odd years on, he remains a vital presence on the scene—a fact illustrated by 2014's fine Smoke Sessions disc, The Original Mob. Here, Cobb returns to Smoke, leading a version of the same band heard on the album, featuring guitarist Peter Bernstein and pianist Richard Wyands.
