CMJ. Japanther's anthemic noise pop can sound a little thin on record, but the band's knack for whipping a roomful of young hipsters into a frenzy is awesome to behold. This is punk as performance art, and no one in town does it better. The So So Glos and Fort Lean flaunt raucous garage rock in support (the latter is signed to Greedhead, the label of Das Racist's Himanshu Suri).
