Family Band + The Black Swans + Boy Without God

The Black Swans, an Ohio trio, play a strangely stylized brand of folk-rock. Frontman Jerry DeCicca sings perverse narratives in a supple, quavery voice that verges on Scott Walker-ish eccentricity. Also on this Cake Shop lineup is Boy Without God, which is the songwriting project of Boston’s Gabriel Birnbaum, who weaves pretty melodies into colorful instrumentation on songs like “City Kids” and “If You.”
