Ed Askew + Black Swans

Ed Askew made his debut recording, Ask the Unicorn, on the famed ESP label in 1968. Like much of the label's output, it was little noticed in its time but has aged well—ditto for Askew, a longtime New Yorker whose ’80s cassette album Imperfiction has just gained a proper release from Drag City. Also on the bill is Ohio trio the Black Swans, who play a strangely stylized brand of folk-rock.
