Denman Maroney + Andy Laster's Sounds of Cairo

A two-week series curated by New World Records continues with a compelling match-up of veteran New York bandleaders. First up at 8pm is reedist Andy Laster, who leads a quartet in songs by ’20s Egyptian café composer Dawud Husni, originally penned for singers like Zaki Murad and Oum Koulthoulm. "Hyperpiano" specialist Denman Maroney follows at 10pm with his Alt.Timers, a trio featuring bassist Ratzo B. Harris and drummer Bob Meyer.
