"I've ruined my temple with drugs / My mind is done," sings Dave Bixby on Ode to Quetzalcoatl, issued in 1969 as a private-press LP and embraced later on as a totemic release by record-collecting psych-folk enthusiasts. The Grand Rapids, MI, singer-songsmith reemerged a few years back after decades of obscurity, and here, he plays his first-ever NYC gig, presenting songs from Ode and its companion LP, Harbinger's Second Coming. Who knows how well these tunes, or their author, will hold up after all these years, but color us super curious.
