Dan Friel, of the now-disbanded Parts & Labor, shows off his staticky yet triumphant noise-pop constructions—like 8-bit Nintendo soundtracks in distress—as heard on a recent Thrill Jockey full-length, Life. Helping to set the stage is Liturgy drummer Greg Fox whose weirdo solo work amalgamates glitch, spastic samples, 8-bit and drone sounds.
