The fun isn't over after Carnegie Hall's opening night gala; eminent conductor Riccardo Muti and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra stay on for two more thrilling programs. On Thu 4, the orchestra performs the Overture to Wagner's Der fliegende Holländer, the world premiere of CSO composer-in-residence Mason Bates's Alternative Energy, and Franck's sumptuous Symphony in D minor. On Fri 5, Muti lead's Dvorak's Symphony No. 5, Martucci's Notturno, Op. 70, and Respighi's beloved Feste Romane.
