In recent years, drummer Ches Smith has demonstrated extraordinary range, adapting to the demands of Tim Berne's moody Snakeoil band, Marc Ribot’s free-form power trio Ceramic Dog and many other projects. This residency finds him trying out new configurations (We All Break, a Haitian-themed band, which performs Sept 30) and leading familiar groups (These Arches, which performs Oct 1; Good for Cows, playing with guest trumpeters on Oct 5 at 8pm; Ceramic Dog, which turns up Oct 5 at 10pm). The run also features Smith's current working trio with violist Mat Maneri and pianist Craig Taborn (Oct 3 at 8pm) and his solo project, Congs for Brums (Oct 3 at 10pm).
