Carl Maguire Piano Duo + Peter Kerlin Octet + Ko

Keyboardist-composer Carl Maguire, whose fascinating output fits somewhere among avant-garde jazz, contemporary-classical chamber music and a formless space for which a catchy tag has yet to be coined, headlines a Firehouse Space bill—presumably dueting with a fellow pianist TBA. Also on board is bassist-composer Peter Kerlin's eight-piece band—documented on last year's Salamander—which suggests Tortoise reimagined as a rock-informed chamber ensemble.
