Cap'n Jazz + The Van Pelt

This reunited Chicago was no less than foundational in the ’90s midwestern emo scene, with its raw, plaintive, homegrown songs. Since then, the band's combination of erratic, screwball energy and tautly yearning emotion has continued to go unmatched, thanks in no small part to Tim Kinsella's sublimely messy mumble-shout vocals.
