According to Garrett Borns, børns means “children” in Danish. And the L.A.–based singer’s glam-pop project has grown up pretty damn fast. As the story goes, Borns was living in a treehouse—yes, like an actual treehouse—before his first ear-tugging EP Candy dropped. Last year, Taylor Swift gushed on Instagram about the four-song set’s T. Rex–stomping highlight, “Electric Love.” More recently, the man with the BØRNS identity has been in heavy rotation on Apple Music’s Beats 1, where he debuted the glistening confessional “The Emotion,” from last year's Dopamine. For those longing for Oracular Spectacular–era MGMT or early Passion Pit, this newbie will fill that hooky void.
