Big Freedia + Javelin

Step back and gawk at the magnificence of Big Freedia, NOLA's biggest (in almost every sense) star of the ballsy, brassy and bent style known as "sissy bounce." Joining the double bill is the awesome Javelin, which performs what seem like lost dance anthems from an unkempt disco—a little poppy, a little arty and irredeemably goofy. The duo's new EP, Canyon County, is one of the stranger, cooler records we've heard this year, turning the band's hip-hop pastiche into spaghetti Western music.
