Ask New York artists of the 1990s who the William in Williamsburg was and they would likely say it was Basinski. In 1992, while many of the neighborhood's hip new inhabitants were still in primary school, the visionary composer and impresario opened the legendary nightclub Arcadia. Tonight, the Issue Project Room honors Basinski, one of its favorite collaborators, with this gala event that re-creates the club's arty nooks and sonic vistas. Vocal music written by Basinski and Antony (of Antony and the Johnsons) for Robert Wilson’s new work The Life and Death of Marina Abramovic will be the centerpiece of the show.
