Sascha Ring, the German producer better known to fans of esoteric electronic rhythms as Apparat, has long had a fondness for skittering rhythms and ethereal aurals. His solo releases (many on the Shitkatapult label, which he cohelms with Marco Haas and Daniel Meteo), plus his collaborations with the Modeselektor duo (as Moderat) and Bpitch Control's Ellen Allien (on their Orchestra of Bubbles LP) tend to be highly textured, atmospheric affairs; they're devised as much to fill a headspace as a dance floor.
