These days, the man formerly known as Dirty Beaches doles out something decidedly different from the mysterious, lo-fi punk that put him on the map. After retiring the DB name in 2014, Hungtai has focused his attention on improvisational styles like free jazz, using saxophone, synthesizers, percussion and piano to create swelling, often-feral compositions. He’s joined by free-jazz drummer Gabriel Ferrandini at this show.
