Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies

Known by those who know it as CLAGS, this queer-academic center is part of CUNY. Founded by noted historian Martin Duberman, it's dedicated to the study of historical, cultural and political issues as they relate to LGBT people. It's always got a slew of smart, timely, public talks on tap, and recent topics have included the films of Barbara Hammer, the politics of lesbian comedy and the fight against homophobia in Brazil.
