The best in new and old documentaries will be screened in the 15th year of this festival running through November 21. This Greenwich Village staple showcases features at iconic moviehouses like IFC Center and Village East by Angelika. DOC NYC also has a long track record for picking out Academy Award honored docs, screening 10 of the last 11 winners for Best Documentary Feature.
The year's festival features acclaimed films such as "Dahomey," which won the top prize at Berlin Film Festival, "Sugarcane," and "There Was, There Was Not," which has screened around the world. Premieres include "The People's Way," HBO Max's "Yacht Rock: A Dockumentary," and "All God's Children," the latter about relationships between Black and Jewish communities in Brooklyn.
In addition to the screenings, tributes to Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Alan Berliner, Emmy Award-nominated filmmaker Marcia Smith, Oscar-nominated director Lucy Walker, and advocate for women and gender-expansive documentary filmmakers Jenni Wolfson will celebrate their contributions to the non-fiction form.
